Planting
In sun or part shade, in deep, loose, rich and well-draining soil. Tolerates clay and lime and will adapt to good-quality acid soil. Once established, 3 years after planting, you may refrain from watering in summer except in very hot or dry climates.
Maintenance
Prune in November if necessary, though the plant will not flower in spring after pruning as the buds are on that year's growth. Regular pruning, on the other hand, stimulates the production of colourful new shoots.
