Astelia Westland
A New Zealand native, this plant forms a dense tuft of spectacular evergreen foliage. The eye-catching dark-green leaves have hints of bronze and silver, and blush red in cold weather. An unusually-coloured plant that works well to create contrast in the garden.

Planting
Remove the plant from its container and thoroughly soak the root ball. Place the plant (not too deeply) in a hole with a mixture of loose soil, topsoil and sand-type material around the root-ball, gently tamping the earth. Water in.
Maintenance
Water well the first year. Mulch the base of the plant in winter to protect from frost in colder climates.
