Use

In regions with a mild climate, as an isolated lawn specimen; elsewhere, in a large container that can be brought into a conservatory in winter.

Planting

In sun or part shade, protected from cold winds, in acid, well-draining soil that retains some moisture year-round. Remove the plant from its container and thoroughly soak the root ball. Place the plant (not too deeply) in a hole with a mixture of loose soil and topsoil around the root ball, gently tamping the earth. Water in.

Maintenance

Water well during the first year. Apply an appropriate fertiliser in spring.
