Clianthus pun. Kaka King

This evergreen New Zealand native produces masses of deep reddish-pink flowers from March to May. Their form is quite reminiscent of a parrot's beak!

Use

Best planted against a wall or fence where it can grow upwards and, with a little bit of support, can be trained to be an impressive climber. Can also be used in an exotic shrubbery.

Planting

Remove the plant from its container and thoroughly soak the root ball. Place the plant (not too deeply) in a hole with a mixture of loose soil and topsoil around the root ball, gently tamping the earth. Water in.

Maintenance

Water well during the first year. Apply an appropriate fertiliser in spring. Protect from snails and slugs.
