This perennial, known as Texas Star hibiscus, puts on a show in late summer when its scarlet blossoms appear. Autumn foliage is an attractive golden yellow. The plant will die back in winter and its stems will appear again around April.

Use

In shrubberies or containers.

Planting

Soak the root ball for several minutes in a container full of water. Take the plant out of its pot and place it in a hole on a bed of loose soil and humus. Fill the hole with good soil and water in.

Maintenance

Water frequently the first year. Mulch the stump in winter to protect from frost. Add a suitable fertiliser in spring if necessary.
